A BEGINNING PLACE II
Many children are highly intuitive, psychic and spiritually inclined. They can see their world through a spiritual perspective naturally. Over time they may close down such gifts without the opportunities necessary to explore, develop and gain validation for these other senses.
Provided a safe space of allowance and validation to explore and develop these senses children learn to use, refine, interpret and understand their abilities as the divine gifts they truly are. In doing so they become more whole, complete and secure beings in both their lives and the world. Developing these intuitive tools leads to new dimensions of understanding, knowledge and perspective that aid them throughout their lives in many beautiful ways.
Lacking such opportunity and validation can close these abilities down. At worst they may not close down fully, leaving the intuitive side developing while giving the child little understanding to cope. This may leave them feeling ashamed, different and scared of both themselves and their abilities. Many intuitives learned as children that their abilities were unacceptable, “strange” and something to be ridiculed for and invalidated leaving them to become confused, ashamed and unhappy adults.
Schools hopefully develop the mind and body but what of the intuitive, psychic and spiritual side of children? All anyone needs is a safe space to explore and develop themselves in whatever ways they need. My goal, my passion, is to create such safe spaces for children to explore, play and develop their intuitive natures.
Imagination can be a powerful conduit for intuitive information. Guided imagery, visualization, archetypal imagery, symbols, all are examples of imagination as an intuitive conduit. One example of this in direct action is to have children “look inside” a closed box in their imaginations, then draw and color what they “see” in their mind’s eye. First the shape and color, then filling in details as they can. Having them do so before the actual box is opened and it’s contents revealed is just one way to engage children in what I call Intuitive Play.
Depending on the age and maturity of the child the range of Intuitive Play can run from something as simple as the box game to much more detailed and complex explorations of their abilities.
Many children are now being born who are highly intuitive. I myself was born an Indigo and transitioned to Crystal. These are still merely terms that resonate with me. They serve to simply say I was very intuitive and psychically gifted as a child then later in life my abilities and my relation to them developed and changed while they also dramatically increased in both dimension and my understanding of them. Whatever the terms used to describe such intuitively sensitive and psychically gifted children they are first and foremost children.
The Gifts that such children are given to are myriad. One little girl I met read my mind, repeatedly, to determine what color of jelly beans to give me. I would say aloud a color and she would bring it to me from the jelly bean bowl she’d gotten for Christmas. Next I would “Say” the color in my mind and "Send" it to her. She would bring the correct jelly bean all the same. She didn’t seem to care whether I spoke what I wanted or thought it to her, it was all good so far as she was concerned.
Another little girl was extremely sensitive to the emotions of those around her, sensing and feeling them as someone else might a touch, sight or sound. Many empathically gifted children will “pick up” the emotional energies of those around them and feel them in their bodies, getting headaches, dizziness or even nausea.
At other times empathic children have the emotions of others “run through” them to be expressed. This is especially so if someone is repressing or denying the emotions themselves. For example: someone may feel angry but not express it. They come into contact with an empathic child and the child throws a tantrum for no reason, bursts into tears or suddenly feels drastically ill. This is one example of Reflection: when a child “Reflects” the emotional energies back to their source by expressing them and making them known.
Another little boy and I played a game of turning puzzle pieces over to the blank side. He would “guess” which ones fit in the puzzle without looking. Not only did he infallibly pick the correct pieces time and again but he became distracted by the other children in the room and just kept picking them up, turning them over and placing them in the puzzle with his head and eyes turned in the opposite direction! Did I mention he was only 3 years old?
